What is a Feuilleté?

 Many customers see ‘Feuilleté’ on our menus and ask the question:

What the heck is a Feuilleté?

Well, a Feuilleté is typically a puff pastry case containing some kind of filling – a pasty of sorts.

But at Foodilic, our ‘Feuilleté pastries are made from delicate filo pastry to give the pastry a crispier finish.

A rarity on menus in the UK, our Feuilleté pastries contain a range of sweet or savoury fillings, including:

 

• Cottage Cheese and Mascarpone

• Cottage Cheese, Mascarpone and Sorrel

• Smoked Chicken, Mushrooms and Herbs

• Cheddar Cheese and Ham

• Smoked Salmon, Soft Cheese and Sorrel

• Crab and Ginger

• Sweet Pumpkin and Honey

 

Here is our Pastry Chef at Foodilic Western Road demonstrating how the Feuilleté is produced.

 Step 1: The Chef prepares the filo pastry

Step 2: The pastry dough is spun into a fine film of filo pastry

[divider_line]

Step 3: The Chef places the filling of choice into the centre of the pastry

[divider_line]

Step 4: The filo pastry is folded around the filling and placed into a baking tray to be baked in the oven

[divider_line]

Step 5: After baking, the golden filo pastry rolls are cut into portions, ready to be served

[divider_line]

 It really is as simple as that! And yet, they taste sooo good.

So, next time you’re thinking of what to have for lunch, why not try a Feuilleté.

North Street: All You Can Eat Buffet @foodilic

The North Street branch of Foodilic was the first in Brighton. Best known for it’s all too affordable and delicious ‘all you can eat’ buffet the little shop has been part of the Foodilic family for many years and has built up an army of fans and reviews over this time. Our little take away provides dishes from our experienced and brand on chefs and will continue to provide excellent service to all who sail in her!

We were so proud to be a part of this amazing event in Brighton! We served up 1000s of dishes for some very hungry people and they all left with big smiles on their faces!

Pentonville Road @foodilic: Opening Soon!

Foodilic fans will be very pleased to hear that you will not have to travel to Brighton to sample our fare! In the next month or so we will be opening up a branch on Pentonville Road, serving the same amazing dishes, juices, breakfasts, lunches and dinners that have kept us at the top of the restaurant chain for many years. Customers will be able to eat in or take away and eat at their own leisure!

Western Road Foodilic Is Open! @foodilic #brighton #eating

So after a long and slightly hectic opening, the doors to the new Foodilic on Western Road, Brighton eventually opened at the end of May 2013.

We were so excited on the lead up, especially when our amazing furniture got delivered from Serbia!

Our chefs have been busy creating menus and dishes that we know will make your mouths water instantly!  The staff are ship shape, after receiving full training on our ethos and of course, our delicious food and we we’ve all finished tripping over the plumbers that were fitting the loos! Hoorah!

Oh and we have to introduce our amazing Pastrie Chef,Osman.  He is phenomenal and makes all our pastries by hand. You will never taste better. He is a true artist and you can watch him at work when you visit Western Road!

We had a tirade of reviewers down to sample our fare in opening month and have many fabulous articles online, singing our praises which proves that it hasn’t all been for nothing! Phew!
